Phrasal Verbs
What we discuss in this section under the title of phrasal verb is a relatively strange construction composed of a verb, a noun or adjective, and a personal pronoun, used chiefly for expressing feelings. They are strange because the verb is always in the third person singular and the logical subject is determined by the enclitic personal pronoun. For instance, in the first example below, the person feeling cold is denoted by the pronoun “م” while the verb is in the third person singular (“است” meaning "is"). Elsewhere in the langauge, enclitic personal pronouns denote logical objects and possessors, not logical subjects.
