Adverbs
In Persian, most adverbs can be used as adjectives too. The adverbs in the following examples all can serve as either an adverb or an adjective.
آرام از آنجا رفتم.
حسن خوب درس میخواند.
لیلا عرب است اما فارسی را خوب حرف میزند.
پرندهها قشنگ میخوانند.
I left (lit. went from) there slowly.
Hassan studies well.
Laila is an Arab but she speaks Persian well.
The birds sing beautifully.
However, as in English, there are some words that are mainly used as adverbs (in fact, all of the following except for the second and third one are used exclusively as adverbs).
بالاخره او را دیدم.
همه دیر خوابیدند.
اتوبوس زود آمد.
ناگهان درها باز شدند.
مادرم دوباره صدایم کرد.
موبایل امید همیشه خاموش است.
Finally I saw her.
Everybody slept late
The bus came early.
Suddenly the doors opened.
My mother called me again
Omid's mobile is always switched off.
There is also a special group of originally Arabic adverbs (usually sentencial adverbs) that end with an "an" sound. These adverbs follow a special spelling convention. The final "an" sound is spelled not as "ن", but as " اً " (or sometimes just " ا "). This symbol, a borrowing from the Arabic writing system, is called tanween.
احتمالاً حسین فردا به لندن بر میگردد.
فرهاد حتماً جوابِ سؤال را میداند.
تکلیفم را بعداً مینویسم.
نگهبانِ این در معمولاً خواب است.
Probably Hossein will return to London tomorrow.
Farhad definitely knows the answer to the question.
I’ll do (lit. write) my homework later.
This gate/door’s guard is usually asleep.
Additionally, there are cases where adverbs are used to modify adjectives or numerals.
جوابِ شما کاملاً درست است.
دیشب دقیقاً ده ساعت خوابیدی!

Last night, you slept for exactly ten hours.
Finally, it is worth noting that the preposition “به”, literally meaning “to”, can also produce constructions with an adverbial meaning. When preceding nouns denoting quality, it can be used to express the quality of an action.

سرباز دشمن به سختی مجروح شد.
پیرزن به آرامی روی زمین نشست.
دروازهبان به راحتی توپ را گرفت.
The enemy soldier became badly injured.
The old woman sat on the ground calmly.
